Description
Pokemon TCG Generations is a ROM Hack of the original Pokemon Trading Card Game, where the cards, attacks, attributes, resistances, weaknesses, and various effects have been extensively altered and expanded. This ROM Hack introduces Pokemon from nearly all generations (1-9) of the franchise, offering a fresh and exciting take on the traditional card game experience.
Features
- There are a total of 310 cards in the ROM, 82 more than in the Original Game.
- At the start of the game you can choose whether to play as Mark or Mint, exactly like in the Sequel!
- All Pokemon Cards have been replaced by Pokemon from other Generations, with Some Exceptions (Eevee, Ditto, Horsea, and Seadra to name a few, this is due to the effects of the Cards or are related to Pokemon introduced after those.)
- The Meta, I have dedicated a lot of time to developing the Meta of this game, mainly I have worried that each card has something that makes it interesting to use. In general most Basic Pokemon are not as strong as in the original game and there is a focus on using Stage 1/2 Pokemon.
- All the Pokemon Sprites were replaced with Sprites I made, obviously following the “Style” of the game.
- The vast majority of attacks in the game have been changed in some way or another, including new attacks with new effects.
- Each Booster Pack will now give 11 cards total
- The Sprites of the Main Duelists of the Game have been replaced by those of the Sequel (Because they basically look better), and Now each of the Club Masters will give you an extra Booster Pack (Basically they give you 3 in total)
- Almost all the Cards in the Game can be obtained through the 4 booster packs and there is even a clear way to know which Booster each card is in.
If you want to see all the new sprites, you can see them here. Also, check the old Version here.
Version Differences
There are 3 Versions: Pokemon TCG Generations, Pokemon TCG Generations LC and Pokemon TCG Generations One for One
- “Pokemon TCG Generations” is the standard version of the game.
- Pokemon TCG Generations LC (Little Cup) is a special version in which you can only get Common Cards from the Booster Packs, this is a Simple challenge that you can do if you prefer.
- Pokemon TCG Generations One for One is a special version in which you can only use use 1 copy of each card in the game, kind of like a Gym Leader Challenge
Changelog v1.7
IMPORTANT: This Update (1.7) will be incompatible with the previous update of the game (1.6.1), any kind of previous save file before 1.7 would not work on the game form here onwards.
Important Changes
- Expanded the card data size (Thanks Electro!), now we can have up to 511 cards in the game, in this Update i added 56 new cards into the game, making a total of 310!
- Also thanks to new improvements to the research of the TCG 2 decomp. and Electro, the TCG 2 Sprite System can be added to the game, so now we have acces to card sprites with more than 4 colors!
- New Type! the Dark/Darkness Type is added to the Game (Thanks Oats for the help!)
- New Status condtion: BURN!
- Almost All the Pokémon Cards and some Trainers were re-design and changed in some way or another.
- Some New Tiles on the floor of each Club, with different colors depending on the Club.
- Faster duel animations (Drawing cards, Deck Shuffle, Prize Setting, etc)
- New Shortcuts and Button combos that in General aim to make the game faster:
- On the overworld:
- Hold SELECT + Press B = Opens straight into the Diary
- On the Deck Selection
- Pressing SELECT = Selects the current deck directly
- On the Deck Editor
- Pressing SELECT = Ups the current ammount of cards to 4 if it is lower than it or if it is 4 or more it lowers back to 0. Basically Maxes Out the ammount of cards you can play and removes all the copies with only a button. (You can obviously still use the arrows to control the ammount.)
- On the Duels:
- Hold B + Press SELECT = The Forfeit option shows up, it ask a yes or no question. If yes then you forfeit the duel and counts as a loss if no the duel resumes as normal. Basically a quicker option to just reset the duel.
- On the overworld:

1.7 released yesterday. Any way you would be able to update, please?
Yo Big Boss,
Update 1.7 just dropped.
Would you be so good and update?
Thanks Boss!
Yoooo
I should play this when I get some free time. This looks like a fantastic little nostalgic experience with tons of fresh new content. I used to love the tcg on my gameboy color as a kid! I beat it on nintendo switch online a while back. It’s so fun! And going all the way up to gen 9? For a game like this that’s actually insane, and really impressive. Also making a game like this both challenging and balanced, definitely takes a bit more of something you don’t see in your typical romhack of say Crystal, Emerald, FireRed or even DPPt/HGSS. Not that those don’t do that. Just TCG requires it in a very very different way.
I look forward to playing this!
How do we get the Rayquaza card?
There is a 1.6.1 update.
Person 1.6.1 was released today. Thanks!
