Do you plan on updating the battle screen, like the backgrounds, the floor, and the UI and status bar (HP) and move list, as well as menu with fight, bag, party and run? When you’re further along with the main meat and potatoes of the development, I mean. Because ofc that stuff is just dessert, and doesn’t add anything to the gameplay aspect (unless you actually add different things to it like L to use last pokeball, etc) or Mega evolutions. But it adds to visuals which are important still imho, and you can breathe new life and color into it thru updating it your way. I’d be lying if I said that romhacks with all the aforementioned battle-related things in question being newly updated didn’t leave more of an impact on me and aren’t more memorable than those that lack any updates or improvements to it.
The original Emerald’s is just really aged, and compared to all the various hacks we have gotten of it since then, especially in recent years, it’s like a 3/10 to me. For its time it was a 10 outta 10 definitely. But not so much anymore.
Either way, looking forward to really diving into this when it’s completed. For now I’ll give it a try but probably can’t get too far atm due to being busy, but we’ll see how that goes.
I eventually want to look at making more unique changes to the visuals but as I am not an artist my priority has been on developing the world, quest and gameplay as that’s something I can work on. Then once I’m happy with the core of the game I’ll likely look at introducing some custom artwork to let it step up from emerald.
In terms of gameplay QOL the game is built off Emerald Expansion so we do have the L to use last ball, mega evolution and all the modern battle mechanics etc.
My starter stopped gaining experience, I started a new file but the same happens at onepoint, so I cannot proceed…Too bad, I hope this will be fixed in the final version!
Hi,
Did you turn on level caps cause if you did your Pokemon will stop gaining xp once they hit level 15 before the first gym.
IDK cause I cannot find the caps in the options…Where can I check?
It’s an option when you first leave the trainers bed-room. Annoyingly have a bug with the feature to turn it off. But if you’re not gaining xp past 15 it’s because level caps did turn on. I am working on a major overhaul of the code this will include a fix of this issue
Sounds promising, going to wait until it’s finished though
Looks really promising! Can’t wait for more updates!
Looks promising. Hopefully the progression doesn’t stop mid way like most new story hacks
I’m still working on it! I’ve been doing weekly updates to keep up on it with the 5th gym due to be released hopefully by the end of the month.
Keep up the good work mate ✨
Yo! Are you the dev? I’m rooting for your hack!
I am yes 🙂 Thank you, I got a ton of thing still to work through, this is pretty much just the first concept of what I’m aiming for with the design and threads of various areas
