Description

Built using the Emerald Expansion and set in the fully custom Triver region, this hack offers players the freedom to explore and play their way. The focus is on uncovering ancient secrets, exploring vast new areas, and discovering Pokémon to fill out your Pokédex.

This demo covers content up to the 4th gym and lets you explore a large portion of the region — including the first two of Triver’s three major islands.

Demo Features

  • Playable up to the 4th Gym
  • Multiple starter options:
    • Johto Starters: Cyndaquil, Totodile, Chikorita
    • Partner Choices: Eevee or Pikachu
    • Hoenn Starters: Torchic, Mudkip, Treecko
  • Hidden Pokémon and items for dedicated explorers
  • Early-game towns, routes, and diverse wild encounters
  • Light storytelling with an emphasis on atmosphere over exposition
  • Introduces several major storylines
  • Clear showcase of the game’s design philosophy and overall direction

Fan-Favorite Features (from Emerald Expansion)

  • Physical/Special Split
  • Updated learnsets, abilities, and movepools
  • Reusable TMs
  • No HMs – replaced with key items that let you explore deeper
  • Toggleable EXP Share
  • Optional level caps
  • Modern battle engine upgrades with classic Gen III visuals

What makes Triver unique?

  • Exploration-first design – progression comes through discovery, not just gyms
  • Handcrafted encounters – every route and cave has a distinct identity
  • Optional secrets and side challenges woven into the world
  • Authentic Gen III aesthetics – built to feel like a true GBA-era release
  • Subtle worldbuilding – lore and narrative are there if you choose to find them

Known Limitations

  • Some later-game areas are still inaccessible
  • Minor scripting or graphical polish is still in progress
  • Bug reports are encouraged and appreciated — I’m actively improving the game based on feedback
  • Alot of the art is placeholder and in early state

Feedback

I’d love to hear your thoughts, whether it’s bug reports, difficulty feedback, quality of life suggestions, or just what you enjoyed. Feel free to leave on the PokeCommunity thread.
