Description

Garbage Gold is a HeartGold trashlocke hack built around using only “trashmons”, Pokémon with a base stat total under 425 (with a few exceptions). Many Pokémon either don’t evolve or evolve much later than usual, forcing creative strategies and unconventional team-building. Despite the restrictions, a a variety of Pokémon are available from Gen 1 to 9 including regional forms, making each run unpredictable and replayable.

Your starters? Let’s just say they’re… not great.

Features

  • Completely custom battle AI and trainers
  • Gauntlets: multi-battle challenges with no healing, weather effects, Trick Room, and item limits
  • 420+ custom level-up learnsets, modern moves, and new items (like Eviolite)
  • Entirely new overworld using BW2 tiles, with the massive Kanto Wasteland and many new areas
  • Brand new post-war Johto storyline, new characters, dialogue, and lore (Shiny Sickness, item drought, etc.)
  • Team up with Grovyle and Celebi from PMD: Explorers of Sky
  • 25+ custom music tracks, including Mystery Dungeon arrangements
  • Pokédex with Pokémon up through Gen 9, including regional forms
  • Quality-of-life updates: infinite Rare Candies, Repels, removable HMs, instant text, running shoes from the start
  • Extra encounters, wild double battles, level caps for gyms, and nuzlocke-friendly design
  • Fully documented trainers, encounters, gauntlets, and movesets

Switch-in AI

The below flowchart shows the AI’s decision-making process when choosing which Pokémon to switch into during battle. Each available party member is evaluated based on factors like whether it can deal damage, outspeed the opponent, survive a hit, or score a knockout. Special cases like Ditto, Wobbuffet, and Wynaut are also considered. Each option is assigned a switch priority score, and the Pokémon with the highest score is selected, ensuring the AI makes smarter, more strategic choices rather than switching at random.
