Description

This experimental ROM hack fuses the worlds of Pokémon and Dark Souls into a true soulslike Pokémon experience. Drawing inspiration from the challenge, risk-reward mechanics, and resource management of the Souls series, this project reimagines Pokémon’s familiar loop with higher stakes and a darker tone. While the original plan was to create a full Dark Souls-inspired region, this release focuses on delivering core mechanics that transform the way Pokémon is played.

Features

EXP as Currency: Any EXP earned is automatically converted into money.
Leveling System: Pokémon only level up at Poké Centers by spending money on EXP at a 1:1 rate.
Trainer Reset: All defeated trainers reset when healing at a Poké Center or after fainting.
Defeat Penalty – Trainers: Losing to a trainer causes you to lose all your money. You can reclaim it by defeating the same trainer again.
Defeat Penalty – Wild Pokémon: Losing to a wild Pokémon also costs all your money, but an item will spawn at the encounter site to recover it.
Potion Flask System: Instead of Running Shoes, you start with a Potion Flask key item. It has three charges that fully restore your entire party and replenishes when you heal at a Poké Center.

Closing Words

The result is a pokeemerald with unique mechanics, though the world itself remains unchanged and not balanced for them. In my experience, it’s quite fun but also fairly easy. To reiterate, this is just a showcase of the implemented mechanics rather than a full game experience. Any feedback is very welcome! (please visit the pokecommunity thread to submit feedback)

BTW Kuay and X literally boosted up their likes by clearing browser data and refreshing. 200 times about. That is absolutely disturbing behavior. Chronically online holy shit dude. Yet another example of abusing something. I know you removed dislikes. And I hate to say it. But I think the same should be done with likes. Holy crap the egotistical narcissism is insane and has me baffled. I can say with utter confidence I did not expect that. If you thought you were slick and we wouldn’t notice, you are even crazier and more stupid than I gave credit for. And if you guys don’t believe me, try it. Make a comment, like it (or just like someone else’s comment) and then delete the browsing data, but not your passwords!!!!, and hit refresh. Like the comment again and you will see it goes up rather than canceling it out. It’s due to the fact the site uses cookies, rather than tying an account to voting on stuff. There isn’t even any password/login system, only putting your name with an email, and when you are verified it saves that information, but is just an autofill, not actually saved in your browser’s settings as login information with username and password.

To think someone would blast 200 likes on their comment to feel like they are winning some nonexistent contest, over saying the word “suck” with nothing else of value, is the most deranged and UNHINGED thing I have seen probably in the last few months to be quite honest. I am utterly confounded. Something needs to be done about this person, Admin, please and thank you. Forget what I said, their comment really should just be axed. I feel very strongly about this now, in stark contrast to what I said earlier. I came back to see if any new romhacks were posted then saw that and was flabbergasted. Just holy shit who even cares that much to do that??????? what a waste of time for something worthless. I’m sorry but doing something like that is one of the many qualities of a loser. Nothing more. Nothing less. Completely trivializing the like system yet again just like before when dislikes had to be taken away. Wow. Just wow dude.

And then I come back to the site after not even 12 hours since making my last comment and checking the site, when it was STILL at 34. Or 28? My memory can be off sometimes but I know for a fact it was one of those two numbers!!! AND NOT EVEN 12 HOURS GO BY BEFORE IT JUMPS UP TO 180???? AND THEN THE 2ND REPLY LIKELY BY THE SAME PERSON HAS 111. Like it’s extremely obvious at this point. Just take it away atp so they don’t get any further incentive to waste time on this site being purely unproductive asshats when they could be out looking for a J-O-B or doing their homework or I don’t know READING A BOOK??? Holy macaroni and hot dogs. Super petty stuff today dude. I expect to return to the site tomorrow or a couple days from now and see their comment nuked and not have to see future comments by them if that is how they’re going to look and how they behave so egregiously when they get RIGHTFUL pushback, and/or RIGHTFUL disagreements and/or RIGHTFUL confrontation.     You gotta remember people literally BUY followers, likes and views on social media… People want validation even if it comes from themselves in some warped and twisted way that requires them to delude their selves into believing it came from someone other than their own hand or by paying for it, making/buying bots, etc. Or to try and fool people into thinking they’re more popular and likable than they are and they’re “that guy” or “that girl”.
    
    Look at online gaming. Ppl will use exploits. Cheats. And pay literal hundreds to thousands to cheat in online games and get different powerups like aimbot, invincibility, Xray vision, things that aren’t a part of normal gameplay. And they will call themselves “skilled”. When that could not be any further from the truth. It’s the same here. It’s fascinatingly weird behavior, yeah, but it’s really nothin new. I think this calls for some changes, however. 100%.
    
    Otherwise it sets a bad precedent and it will keep happening and turn this community sour. Then, rather than discouraging the negative nancies, it will discourage the people with something meaningful & positive to say or share from visiting the site because the negativity is drowning out everything else and also because they might get unwarranted negative and hateful replies from a loser without anything better to do but be a jackass online.

Admin you really should ban words such as: suck, sucks, blow, blows, trash, garbage, *ss (with a, not a censor), crap, sh*t (without the censor), pos, and other common phrases which people use to refer to something in a deragatory or reductive manner. I recommend using Google to find as many as possible to block them. And you should keep an eye out for people who try to avoid these ban detections by switching up letters and words and things and remove those comments or even ban/shadowban the peoples’ accounts. It’s just ridiculous at this point. Saying the stuff they do which hasn’t anything of any real value, substance, depth…It does not promote discussion, especially not healthy discussion or conversations. It’s nothing but a vibe-killer. These malicious killjoys with nothing nice to say and only negativity and bashing can’t keep getting away with this! All they’re doing is raining on everyone’s parade, everyone who is here simply to learn about new games, play them, discover classics as well, and give heads up about new updates and patches for existing romhacks. It’s really not okay and it’s getting a little chaotic and tense. I thought this was being dealt with. Just because someone isn’t throwing out slurs doesn’t mean their comments are innocent or immune to being subject to moderation. It’s your site, run it how you feel is necessary. I get It’s hard to filter out all the bad eggs. But it’s literally every new post almost. I don’t know why this is the place these people are choosing to vent their negativity on this website at everyone else’s expense. It’s really the furthest thing from normal behavior of a functioning individual. And again it’s not just about words or phrases, it’s about tone and how some people are being hateful towards others whether it’s the romhack/fangame, the ppl who made it, the ppl who like it, or other people in the comment section. That and being aggressive or making personal attacks. It shouldn’t just be comments either. Names should be filtered too, even emails. To raise the bar closer to common decency, lowering chances of those people with inappropriate emails or names from having a platform. You gotta break out the whip sooner rather than later, to discourage that sort of behavior and automatically shut it down completely using the system in place, or it won’t stop and will just stay the same or get worse and worse. Also words which are meant to tear other people down. Such as idiot, dumb, stupid, illiterate, the r-word if it isn’t banned already. I’m normally against censorship, especially against grown adults who shouldn’t need to be censored (and definitely at least half of the people talking this way must be in their late teens to 20s and up). But ends justify the means, and I see it as necessary evil. When this freedom is abused and taken advantage of maliciously to be an overall butt to everyone then you lose it, and then censorship and the banhammer takes over. It’s a privilege; a luxury, more than it is a right. And a comment saying nothing other than “Suckkkk” getting well over 30 likes, probably 40 soon and perhaps even 50, is a sign that there are a lot of them frequenting the site and action is required now more than ever. I read the other replies to that comment and think they are necessary for others to see so in this one case, it shouldn’t be deleted. Just my judgment. Perhaps you feel differently. But maybe you can implement a feature which locks certain comment sections, threads, likes, and stuff from getting any new responses under them or votes. Even locking a certain page entirely from getting new comments from anyone aside from yourself or a small list of users you personally allow. That could be necessary in some cases. I’m not a techy so I don’t know how to do any of that… But it’s on like every social media so there has to be a way to do it on here…. Anyways. Thanks. I appreciate all of your hard work and I know many others are. There are just some bad eggs around with nothing better to do than spread hate and negativity.. I want to believe they’re the minority here, but I can’t call it…

I mean you made the effort to come onto the site and you clicked this page, surely you are able to download the game and play it too. That’s not too difficult for you, is it? If it sucks, then no doubt you should be able to clear the full game with zero losses. Reply with a link once your ACE playthrough is fully uploaded on YouTube or some other video streaming site.       You don’t have to say that it sucks. It shows a lack of class or dignity, regardless of if you enjoyed it or not, or if you think something is made with a higher or lower quality. You can say you don’t like something or that it’s not your cup of tea without trampling on it and the hearts of those that made it. And if someone has a problem with your tastes or preferences on a fundamental level, that’s fine, that’s their problem.
      
      I won’t ignore the fact there are many who take offense when you express a simple dislike or indifference toward something, and they would act disrespectfully, antagonize, or stir the pot. I see that a lot as well. Even towards valid constructive criticisms and grievances towards different games. The sheer amount of personal attacks and questioning someone’s intelligence confrontationally for said comments is wild. The romhacks reddit community has even been called out for deleting comments which contained no hate or negativity at all just because they aren’t bootlicking or yes-man’ing a romhack and its creator/team. That is a huge problem as well and does not promote a healthy culture nor constructive criticism.
      
      Still, it’s about how you conduct yourself and the intent behind those actions at the end of the day. For, again, all sides in question. Lately it seems like nearly everyone is at someone’s throat these days in the romhacking community. On Reddit, on Discord, Pokecommunity, here. . . No doubt any other social media or website with a community that has chatting/comments enabled and is based around romhacks is also plagued with the same problem. Something really needs to change, and on every side, not just one or the other. And you’ve gotta be the change you want to see. It’s not even just the romhacking community, though. The Pokémon community itself has always had its issues, as well as the internet itself. And on a much larger scale, gaming itself. But that doesn’t mean we are immune to change or being accountable.
      
      Even in your comment, you’re almost there. You’re giving what I’d consider a valid feedback about balance. I honestly thought about the same thing when I read the description. The system can be cheated and taken advantage of by battling with some Pokémon then ditching them and using the EXP towards others, such as your main team. Soft level caps or an EXP distribution limit per gym badge could help mitigate that. However, it’s unnecessary to flat out say that it sucks.
      
      And I’m not saying people have to build Rome in a day for the romhackers and give a million pieces of advice just to share their thoughts and be worth being heard.
      
      You are allowed to share what you liked and disliked about something without giving advice on how to fix things or how something could be better. That’s what a conversation is for, and developers should take that into consideration. It’s their job to decide what to improve based on the player feedback. But if you’re just going to be a jerk and/or negative, then why even bother?
      
      But everyone should remember that you can only control yourself and not others. The only control you have is how you influence others. Personally, I believe there is more to be gained for everyone from positive influences. If you enjoy a game but don’t find it to be perfect, coming in with a good energy means people are more likely to listen to you. And rom hacks are different from most games as being strong in player-dev engaging is the norm. Unlike AAA titles such as officiap Pokémon games, Mario, and Xenoblade. It is definitely a privilege that should not be taken so lightly. That goes for developers and players alike.
      
      That’s all I’m going to say. Take this how you will. Or brush it off if doing that is what makes you happy.

      Blinding White 2 is a great new one as well from the end of August. So, very recent. It’s on the Reddit romhacks community. Gen V is my favorite and I enjoyed what I’ve played of the hack so far. I think many other Gen V fans would too.

im didnt ever played dark soul but this look fun and havin new pokemon spirite model as you can see taillow so i like that and it sound like fun new experience
hopefully that mean brtter grovyle backsprite and all main starter final evo is havin it too especially swampert my favorite water type. theyre make it look fat in emerald and latios latios mini sprites look dumb in pc party
i play let u all know how far I get how good it is etc
im been waitin something new challenging romhack 😀
